Excellent at research

There really isn’t a type of research I haven’t at least had a go at. Mapping research questions, usability testing, interviews, regulated formative studies, physical or digital products, research repositories & insight management.

Ideas to prototypes

Bringing the insights from research to ideas and prototypes. Whether it’s digital prototyping with Figma or physical prototyping with glue & cardboard. Low fidelity to higher fidelity ready to present.

Experience & service design

Ensuring the full product, service and experience works for the user and the business. Finding the right medium to deliver value, whether it’s an email or an app.

Sanome

Leading on research, design and adoption for AI-enabled emerging risk predictors in hospital setting since June 2024.

  • Lead on design, usability engineering and human factors for Class IIb Software as a Medical Device AI product.
  • Established co-design practices with clinical teams, patients and hospital stakeholders to deliver products that fit existing workflows to support clinical decision-making
  • Championed users and adoption, from first introduction to AI to embedded clinical practice
  • Validated product concepts early in the discovery phase through rapid prototyping and user testing. Created high-fidelity, interactive Figma prototypes to gather user feedback and iterate quickly.

Béa Fertility

At Béa Fertility, I spearheaded the design and research efforts behind the UK's pioneering at-home fertility treatment, launched in June 2023. As the founding product designer and researcher, I crafted an experience that seamlessly blends technology and medical hardware with compassionate support, empowering users to navigate the often-challenging realities of fertility treatments with confidence and ease.

For three years, I lead work across three verticals:

  • Research I created the research culture at Béa Fertility and over the years developed and conducted research supporting the physical and digital experiences as well overarching clinical understanding. I ran 54 experiments or studies on the Béa Applicator, conducted nearly 200 user interviews and lead regulated research for clearance in both the UK and the US. Throughout the years I fostered a culture where every single colleague took part in research and developed research methods suitable for our purposes, from guerrilla recruitment and diary studies through WhatsApp to one of the first ever actual-use human factors studies in the USA.
  • The digital Béa Treatment Experience Supporting users throughout multiple cycles of fertility treatment at home, combining digital touchpoints, from app to emails.
  • The medical device hardware & physical experience I lead the usability engineering and research work for the Béa Applicator and Treatment Kit (one cycle of treatment with two Béa Applicators), from the usability of the physical medical device to creating the Instructions for Use.

Below I have highlighted some of the projects from my years at Béa

Béa projects

ThirdEye

As the first designer and researcher at ThirdEye, I bridged the gap between the AI computer vision model outputs and end-users, ensuring they received actionable information that integrated into existing workflows.

Kind words

As Tiia's manager at Béa for nearly three years, I witnessed her remarkable problem-solving abilities and outstanding interpersonal skills firsthand. She led the design and development of all instructions for our medical devices and ran our user research with unparalleled expertise. Her extensive interviews and insightful analyses gave us the data to make informed decisions.
