At Béa Fertility, I spearheaded the design and research efforts behind the UK's pioneering at-home fertility treatment, launched in June 2023. As the founding product designer and researcher, I crafted an experience that seamlessly blends technology and medical hardware with compassionate support, empowering users to navigate the often-challenging realities of fertility treatments with confidence and ease.
For three years, I lead work across three verticals:
- Research I created the research culture at Béa Fertility and over the years developed and conducted research supporting the physical and digital experiences as well overarching clinical understanding. I ran 54 experiments or studies on the Béa Applicator, conducted nearly 200 user interviews and lead regulated research for clearance in both the UK and the US. Throughout the years I fostered a culture where every single colleague took part in research and developed research methods suitable for our purposes, from guerrilla recruitment and diary studies through WhatsApp to one of the first ever actual-use human factors studies in the USA.
- The medical device hardware & physical experience I lead the usability engineering and research work for the Béa Applicator and Treatment Kit (one cycle of treatment with two Béa Applicators), from the usability of the physical medical device to creating the Instructions for Use.
- The digital Béa Treatment Experience Supporting users throughout multiple cycles of fertility treatment at home, combining digital touchpoints, from app to emails.
